Troubleshooting

Common issues with connections, guards, and syncing.

Connection issues

Connection not syncing

  • Verify status is "Active" in Settings → Connections
  • Disconnect and reconnect the platform
  • Ensure your account has admin access

Connection disconnected

  • Re-authorize via Settings → Connect
  • OAuth tokens can expire — reconnecting fixes this

Guard issues

Ads not pausing

  • Confirm mode is Auto pause or Auto pause & resume (not Monitor only)
  • Check that inventory is actually ≤ your pause threshold
  • Review the activity feed for error messages

Ads not resuming

  • Confirm mode is Auto pause & resume (Auto pause only notifies — it does not auto-resume)
  • Verify inventory is ≥ your resume threshold
  • If ads were paused externally, enable Takeover
  • Check the activity feed for failure reasons

Sync issues

Sync taking too long

Large accounts (1000+ ads) can take 5–10 minutes. Keep the tab open during sync.

Ads not showing after sync

Verify the correct account is selected and that ads are active (not archived).

Common errors

Not paused by SpendGuardThe ad was paused externally. Enable takeover or resume it manually.
Status update failedAPI error from the ad platform. The entity may have been deleted.

Common first-time mistakes

  • Setting pause and resume thresholds too close (causes rapid toggling). Use a buffer — e.g. pause ≤ 5, resume ≥ 15.
  • Forgetting to switch from Monitor only to an automation mode.
  • Selecting the wrong entity level (campaign vs ad group vs ad). Start broad, then tighten.
  • Assuming "nothing happened" means it's broken — check the Activity feed for "no action" reasons.
