Getting started
1
Install SpendGuard
Install SpendGuard from the Shopify App Store and authorize it to access your Shopify store.
2
Connect Google Ads / Meta Ads
In the SpendGuard app, connect one or both ad accounts. Authorize via OAuth — no passwords needed.
3
Create a Guard
Select your ad account, choose which ads to monitor, select products, and set inventory rules.
Troubleshooting
Before you contact us: Check the audit log and guard settings — most issues are explained there (no-action reasons, connection errors, thresholds).
Google Ads connection issues
- Check that your OAuth token hasn’t expired (reconnect if needed)
- Verify that SpendGuard has the necessary permissions
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting your Google Ads account
Meta Ads connection issues
- Confirm Meta account is connected in SpendGuard
- Try reconnecting Meta Ads (permissions can expire)
- Confirm the correct ad account is selected
- Check the audit log for connection errors
Inventory not updating
- Verify Shopify webhooks are configured (automatic on install)
- Check that products have inventory tracking enabled in Shopify
- Ensure your guard is monitoring the correct products
- Check the audit log for inventory update events
Automation not triggering
- Confirm the guard is enabled (and global disable is OFF)
- Confirm the protected entity (campaign/ad group/ad) is selected
- Verify pause ≤ X and resume ≥ Y thresholds
- Check the audit log for “no action” reasons
