Common questions
What is ArtYears?
ArtYears is an iPhone app for parents and families to scan, organize, print and preserve children's artwork in a private local library.
Where is my artwork stored?
In the current version of ArtYears, your library is stored in the app's private storage on your iPhone.
Does ArtYears upload my children's artwork to a server?
No. ArtYears does not upload your artwork to our servers for storage. See the Privacy Policy.
How do I add artwork?
From Home, open add artwork and choose one of these options:
- Scan artwork — use the camera to capture artwork
- Choose from Photos — pick specific images with Apple's photo picker
- Find artwork in Photos — optionally search Photos you allow ArtYears to access
What is the difference between “Choose from Photos” and “Find artwork in Photos”?
Choose from Photos uses Apple's system photo picker so you select specific images to provide to ArtYears. Find artwork in Photos is optional and searches the Photos library you have allowed ArtYears to access, then shows suggestions for you to review before adding.
Why does Find artwork in Photos ask for Photos access?
Searching your library requires Photos permission. Limited access means ArtYears can inspect only accessible items; broader access enables searching more of the library. Analysis happens on-device in the current version.
Does ArtYears change or delete my original Photos?
No. ArtYears copies selected or confirmed images into its own private storage. It does not edit or delete the originals in Photos.
How does ArtYears determine my child's age?
ArtYears uses the child's birthday together with the artwork date to calculate age for organization and Age Art Books.
Why does ArtYears need my child's birthday?
Birthday is used to organize artwork by age, build automatic Age Art Books, and help set an appropriate time range when searching for older artwork in Photos.
What are automatic Age Art Books?
Age Art Books group a child's artwork by age based on birthday and artwork dates, so you can browse and print year-by-year collections from the local library.
How do I print or save a PDF?
Open an Age Art Book or print flow, generate the PDF in ArtYears, then use Print or Share to AirPrint, Files, Mail or another destination. PDFs are generated locally on your device. Lifetime access is required for PDF export in the current purchase model.
What is Export artwork?
In Settings → Export & backup, Export artwork creates artwork image files for saving or sharing outside ArtYears. It is not a full restorable library backup.
What is Create backup?
In Settings → Export & backup, Create backup builds a portable ArtYears backup that can restore child profiles, artwork, albums, Age Art Books and related library metadata.
What is the difference between Export artwork and Create backup?
Export artwork shares your image files. Create backup packages the library so you can restore it later inside ArtYears.
How do I restore a backup?
Go to Settings → Export & backup → Restore from backup, choose a compatible ArtYears backup ZIP, and confirm. Restoring replaces the current local library with the backup contents.
Why does ArtYears say a backup was created by a newer version?
Update ArtYears from the App Store, then try restoring again. Newer backups can require a newer app version.
Is the ArtYears backup encrypted?
The current portable ArtYears backup is a normal ZIP and is not independently password-encrypted by ArtYears. Anyone who can access the backup file may be able to access its contents. Store backups in a secure location you trust.
What happens if I delete ArtYears?
Deleting ArtYears removes its private local library from the device according to normal iOS behavior. Backups and exports you previously saved outside the app remain where you stored them.
How do I delete a child?
Open the child's profile → Edit child → Delete child, then confirm. Deleting a child permanently removes that child's associated artwork, albums, Age Art Books and related local metadata.
Does deleting an Album delete the artwork?
No. Deleting an album removes the album and its memberships. The artwork remains in the library.
How do I restore my Lifetime purchase?
Open Settings → Unlock (or Manage) → Restore purchasewhile signed into the same Apple Account used for the original purchase. Apple manages payment and purchase history. Confianza TechnoSoft Solutions LLP cannot directly refund or change Apple purchases; for billing or refund questions, use Apple's standard purchase support process.
Is ArtYears a subscription?
No. Core ArtYears Lifetime is a one-time purchase through the App Store. Future optional server or cloud services, if offered, would be described separately and are not promised as free forever under today's Lifetime purchase.
Does ArtYears contain ads?
No. The current ArtYears app does not contain advertising.
